The Antares Maps & Navigation SDKs are general, service independent mapping and navigation components that give the freedom of utilizing any standard map and routing service in offline mode, in a private network or via the internet, without the dependence on any proprietary data source.

Today the key challenge is not only to serve base maps for the first responder teams but the effective fusion and use of on-demand spatial information (maps, routes, location) coming from many different sources.

The geo-location applications based on the Antares Maps & Navigation SDKs are able to enhance first responders’ situational awareness with on-demand spatial data and can provide seamless mapping and navigation both in outdoor and indoor areas.

Even without network coverage, base maps can be stored on the smartphone; specific map layers can be provided from public safety headquarter, utility companies (utility networks), building operators (indoor maps) or landowners/managers (e.g. in case of forest fire: forest layer), and up-to-date remote sensing data (e.g. DigitalGlobe, Copernicus) or standard base maps (e.g. TomTom, HERE) can be available from 3rd party services.

The Antares Maps & Navigation SDKs’ functions and their utilization are designed to be the most compatible with the market leader products. These features make it easy for developers to create a geo-location application faster and in a cost-effective way only with a few hundred lines of codes. The SDKs cover the core mapping and navigation functionalities and allow the developers to focus on the customized public safety functionalities.

Antares Maps SDK

The Antares Maps SDK can be used to easily add map functionality to applications. It only takes a few lines of code to configure and display a custom interactive map component, that can automatically handle mapping data sources and user interactions such as move, zoom, rotate and changing layers.

As a base map, standard vector or raster based data sources could be used, which are also easily configurable, and could be swapped on the fly by the user. Because the vector format has many advantages over raster-based maps, we provide support for the industry standard MapBox Vector Tiles format. The SDK also supports the display of raster layers from WMS and TMS based online mapping services.

The base map can be augmented by layers from KML, GeoJSON data sources, or programmatically created elements (lines, polygons, points and markers). The display style of the base map and augmenting layers is completely independent from the data sources and can be freely customized by defining a text-based configuration file.

Antares Navigation SDK

The Antares Navigation SDK can add turn-by-turn navigation functionality to applications, with the same ease of use as the Antares Maps SDK. The component can be integrated with many routing services, by leveraging a common routing interface. In the case of leaving the desired route, a new route is automatically requested from the connected service.

The navigation component supports easy navigation by displaying the route on the map, the automatic setting of the map’s centre, rotation and zoom, audio and visual clues for navigation actions, and the display of the below basic information:

  • ETA / time to destination
  • time to the next navigation action
  • distance to destination
  • distance to the next navigation action
  • type of next action (icon)
  • name of the next street
  • current speed

Callbacks are provided for all major events of the navigation (moving along the route, reaching a navigation event, re-routing, etc.) to facilitate adding custom application logic.

The Navigation SDK supports the voice navigation in 32 languages on Android.

Based on Galileo positioning, MyLights can determinate the user’s lane level location approaching a junction and display relevant traffic signal states and optimal approach speeds to help improve traffic flow and reduce pollution.

It has been selected into the 30 finalists in the MyGaliloApp Challenge.

ICU (I See You)

The ICU application based on the Antares Maps & Navigation SDKs is able to enhance first responders’ situational awareness with on-demand spatial data and can provide seamless mapping and navigation both in outdoor and indoor areas. In a real emergency with the help of mobile geo-location applications, the first responders can have the same information about their proximity zones as the dispatcher has in the center (colleagues, cars, hazards, etc.).

RUTIN

RUTIN is navigation application of the Hungarian Police. It provides full turn-by-turn navigation for Hungary with real-time traffic information provided by Hungarian Police, Hungarian Public Roads and Center for Budapest Transport.

It uses Antares Maps and Navigation SDKs as well as Antares Routing & Map Server.
